Print-outs and Measuring success

After printing out two copies of the brochure from the documents I showed in an earlier post we came up with five questions on content that we felt could be commonly misunderstood that our brochure helps to explain. Below are the questions:

1. Name four meal plan options you have as a student at Millersville.
2. What is the meal allowance for each meal?
3. Do your meals roll over from week to week?
4. What building is the Cyber Cafe in?
5. What is the starting time of late night?

We then printed the questions out onto pre and post tests.  We then took them to the freshmen level 2D design class and had them answer the pre-test questions, then look at the brochure.  After we collected the brochures we handed out post-tests.  We asked the students to include their name so we could track the progress. We also encouraged them to write down any visual feedback or questions they had about the brochure. Below are photos of this process.

Afterwards we reviewed the results and found that there was improvement across the board.  We took into consideration all the feedback we got and marked some changes we wanted to make both for better design and to lessen confusion.

We then made the changes that we felt necessary including making some placement changes and heading color changes, bolding and making our graphics more clear.
